Obituary

.    Lucille A. Brighenti, 93, a longtime Hurley resident, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, in Ironwood, with her family by her side.      The former Lucille Kowalkoski was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Montreal, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph and Nettie (Olsheski) Kowalkoski, attended grade school there, and graduated from Hurley High School in 1936.      She married Joseph E. Brighenti in Oct. of 1936 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1995.      Lucille was employed as a seamstress at Munsingwear, formerly the Hansen Glove Factory, in Ironwood, and was one of a small group of former Hansen Glove workers who influenced Munsingwear to come to Ironwood. Her interests included her love for sewing, traveling and playing her organ. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hurley.      Surviving are her daughter, Lori (John) DeMario, Ironwood; three grandchildren, Joseph Brighenti III, San Francisco, Kathryn (Tom) Swarts, Montgomery, Ala., and Michael (Elizabeth) DeMario, Minneapolis; one great-granddaughter, Fiona Demario; daughter-in-law, Sharon Brighenti, Windsor, Calif.; sister-in-law, Ginger Gasbarri, Hurley; one niece and one nephew.      Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Jr., in 1984.      Per Lucille's wishes, cremation has taken place.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at a date to be announced later this spring, at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.        Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.      Lunch will be served in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.      Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.      Lucille's obituary can be viewed online and condolences given to her family at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
