Lorraine M.
Oliver, 83, of Ironwood, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, in Ironwood. The former Lorraine M. Anderson
was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Axel and Selma
(Wainio) Anderson, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1947. She
was employed as a teletype operator for the Daily Globe for four
years. Lorraine loved to shop and
travel. She especially enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren. On Sept. 1, 1951, she married
Charles H. Oliver at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter,
Diane McCarty, of St. Paul, Minn.; three sons, Greg (Susan), Raleigh, N.C.,
James (Nancy), Wasilla, Alaska, and Dennis, Addison; Mich.; four grandchildren, Angela
Oliver, Minneapolis, Minn., Ross Oliver, Raleigh, Jessica Oliver, Asheville,
N.C., and Julie Oliver, Wasilla; one great-grandson, Andre Oliver; a sister,
Marian Budnick, Kenosha, Wis.; sister-in-law, Bette Colasacco, Ironwood; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lorraine
was preceded in death by sister-and-brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Bernie
Michelli, Jerry Oliver, and E. Dempsey Colasacco. Out of respect for her wishes,
cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held
Thursday, April 12, at 2 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N.
Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Wes "Bo" Baumeister, pastor of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Ironwood, officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Iron
Nugget in downtown Hurley. Relatives and friends may call
at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday. Lorraine's obituary can be
