IRONWOOD, Mich.: Lorraine (née Grzesiak) Luczak, 94, was surrounded by her loved ones when she left for her eternal life on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
Lorraine was born January 18, 1929, in Ironwood to Joseph and Anna (Cychosz) Grzesiak. She graduated from St. Ambrose High School and met her future husband, Edward Luczak, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. They married on June 1, 1957.
She was actively involved with the Ladies of the Pall, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Aspirus Hospital gift shop. She was vice president of the St. Ambrose-Ironwood Catholic Alumni Association. She assisted voters on election days and donors during blood drives. She was an active Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church member, serving on the RCIA support team.
She possessed a deep and unshakeable faith in God and attended Mass frequently. She was also known for chauffeuring friends to their doctors' appointments. In addition, she spent endless hours talking with her children and grandchildren, who took great delight in making her laugh.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward.
She is survived by her children Jean (Doug) Garn, Escanaba, MI; Carole (Charles) Dillerud, Wabasha, MN; Mark (Jeanne) Luczak, Bessemer, MI; David (Michelle) Luczak, North St. Paul, MN; Joseph (Athena) Luczak, Peachtree Corners, GA; Mary Luczak, Minneapolis, MN; Raymond Luczak, Minneapolis, MN; Andra (Lance) Ziems, Marquette, MI; and Vivien Luczak, Minneapolis, MN. Lorraine had 15 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also had numerous nieces and nephews. Her special friends included Laurie Larson and Kathy Jordan.
We invite you to join us at her wake from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the St. Joseph's Room at Our Lady of Peace, 108 South Marquette Street in Ironwood. The funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace on Saturday, March 11, will start at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Luncheon will follow. Internment will be held at a later date.
