Obituary

Lorraine D. Johnson, 86, of 300 Villa Drive, Hurley, former longtime Ironwood resident, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Hurley.      The former Lorraine Mollard was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late William and Annie (Eichelberger) Mollard, and moved to Ironwood in 1927, where she attended Central Grade School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943.      She worked as a sales clerk for the F.W. Woolworth Co. in downtown Ironwood, and later for the S.S. Kresge Co., Jupiter, and KMart for a total of 30 years.      Lorraine was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood and the Retail Clerks Union. She was an avid bowler, golfer and smear player who enjoyed competition and tournaments. She was also fascinated with animals, especially bears of all kinds.      She was married to Matt Ovaska and later to the love of her life, John "Bud" Johnson of Bessemer, who preceded her in death.      Surviving are her son, Gary B. Ovaska, Ironwood Township, and daughter, Diana (Pat) Dalberg, Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Gary John (JerriAnne) Ovaska, Arpin, Wis., Shannon (Heather) Ovaska, Schofield, Wis., Melanie (John) Janakas, Gunnison, Colo., Christian Allmendinger, Houston, Texas, and Jessica Allmendinger, Seattle, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Mikayla, Katie and Sawyer, Cassidy, Paige, and Jade; a sister, Dolores Ramme, Oxford, Wis.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mollard, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, Lorraine was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Karen Ovaska, Jan. 10, 2012; brothers, William and Raymond Mollard; and sisters, Mildred Andrews and June Letteer.      Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.      Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev.Rosemary DeHut, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.      Committal will take place at the funeral home, with luncheon to follow at Manny's in Ironwood.      Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Lorrraine's obituary can be viewed online and condolences given to her family at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
