Obituary

Loretta C. Gerovac, 83, of 140 E. Southland Ave., Ironwood, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Ironwood.      The former Loretta Bertagnoli was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Hurley, Wis., daughter of the late William and Mary (Aune) Bertagnoli, and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1944.      She married Frank R. Gerovac on Dec. 28, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1987.      Loretta was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hurley. She loved playing bingo and canasta and going to the casino.      Surviving are three sons, Dan "Tinker" (Gail), Waterloo, Ill., Tom (Prisilla), Erwin Township, Ironwood, and Rick, Hurley; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill Vokolek, Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James Bertagnoli; and five sisters, Patsy Bertagnoli, Doris Raineri, Claire Suzik, Mary Jane Vokolek and Gloria Penrose.      Out of respect for Loretta's wishes, cremation has taken place.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev.
