Lila J. Bantz, age 89, of Ironwood died Saturday, September 24, 2016, in Ironwood. She was born February 28, 1927 in Ironwood, daughter of the late Nante and Lillian (Kinnunen) Holappa. Lila attended Ironwood schools, graduating from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1945. Her husband, Jerome Bantz, preceded her in death on April 14, 1985. She is survived by three sons, Jerry of Ironwood, Stephen (Juliane) of Milwaukee, and Mark (Suzzanne) of Richfield, Wisc.; four grandchildren, Kyle Christine (Ian Dees) Bantz of Lexington, Virginia; Christopher Jerome Bantz of Nashville, Tennessee; and Matthew Eugene and William Mark Bantz, both of Milwaukee; one sister, Nancy (Frank) Mayer of Brookfield, Wisconsin; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, Lila was preceded in death by one sister, Laverne King. A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Hurley Coffee Company East Wing, with Dr. Jack Fashbaugh officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
