Leone E. Voight, 79, of
Mercer, Wis., died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, in Ironwood. The former Leone Layman was born Feb. 17,
1932, in Mercer, daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Pemble) Layman, and
graduated from Mercer High School in 1950. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene
in Mercer, and enjoyed woodcarving, painting and fishing. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her family. On June 3, 1950, Leone was married to Albert
E. Voight at the Church of the Nazarene in Mercer. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Charles (Jacalyn),
Ladysmith, Wis., and daughter, Linda Wilhelm, Ironwood; two grandchildren,
Brenda (Todd) McCormick, Mercer, and Victoria Wilhelm, Ironwood; four
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Frederick
"Fritz" (Sylvia) Layman, Mercer; a sister, Ardith Nass, Windom, Minn.; and
numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers-and-sisters-in-law. Besides her parents, Leone was preceded in
death by a granddaughter, Susan Wilhelm, in 1976; brothers, Charles, Arvid,
Robert and Nyle Layman; and sisters, Lila Rossener, Lillian Otto and Myrtle
Schildt. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 18,
at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Nazarene in
Mercer, with the Rev. Kitty Schwanke, pastor, officiating. Committal and interment will follow in the
Mercer Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the church immediately
