Leonard C. Garreau, 82 of Hurley, died May 23, 2007 in Hurley. He was born July 21, 1924 in Bessemer, Mich., son of the late George and Clara (Brisson) Garreau. Leonard entered into the United States Navy and served on the USS Alabama. He was honorably discharged on February 11, 1946. After being discharged, Leonard worked for the Espamer Lumber Company, retiring in 1986 as the vice-president of the company. On August 28, 1948 he married the former Doris Augustson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. Doris survives. He was a life member of the Hurley American Legion Post 58 and VFW Post 1580, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting and downhill skiing. Surviving are a son Robert, Waunakee, Wis, a daughter Jeanne Morzenti (John Davis), Durango, Colo., a daughter-in-law Tina, Gile grandchildren Christina and Jason Morzenti and a great grandchild Aidan Morzenti., sisters Mildred Maki, Union Grove, Wis., Lorraine Devore Chicago, Ill., sisters-in-law Faye Garreau, Union Grove, Irene Garreau, Milwaukee, Wis. and Ruth Helin, Gile. Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a son Dennis in 1998, his step-father Joe Stulich, two brothers and six sisters. Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, presider. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. Inurnment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Hurley VFW Post 1580 and Hurley American Legion Post 58 Honor Guards.
