Lenore Ursula Pawlak, 85, of
Ironwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in
Ironwood, with her loving family by her side. The former Lenore Dary was born Oct. 21, 1928,
in Ironwood, daughter of the late Walter and Regina (Sokolowski) Dary, attended
St. Mary's Grade School in Hurley, Wis., and graduated from Lincoln High School
there in 1946. Furthering her education at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in
Chicago, Lenore became a registered nurse in 1949 and was employed as a surgical
nurse at Grand View Hospital. She then took time off to raise her family and
also did some private duty nursing. She resumed working full-time at the Grand
View in 1959, retiring as director of nursing in 1985. Lenore was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former St. Michael's Catholic Church and its
choir. She was also formerly active in the local Red Cross Blood Drive, and
enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge and following her grandchildren in all
of their activities. She was married to Raymond Pawlak on Sept. 2,
1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, by the late Monsignor Michael
Prock. Ray preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2009. Surviving are two sons, David (Jane) and James
(Therese), both of Ironwood; a daughter, Terry (John) Trolla, Hurley; six
grandchildren, Lindsay (Derek) Potter, DeForrest, Wis., Jay (Heather) Pawlak,
Ironwood, Anthony (Tracy) Trolla, Hurley, Tracey (Andrew) Leiphart, Ironwood,
Gillian Pawlak (fiance Andrew Rotsch), Rogers, Ark., and Michael (Caitlin)
Pawlak, Chicago; seven great-grandchildren, Audra, Mikayla, Jaxson, Zoe, Maddox,
Emily and Branden; a brother, Stanley Dary, and sister, Elizabeth LaBlanc, both
of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Kay Pawlak, Ironwood, and Sylvia Dary, Ironwood
Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Lenore was
preceded in death by a brother, William Dary; and sister, Louise
Egan. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family
Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael
Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place in the St.
Joseph Family Room at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish
hall. Private interment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 216 W. Aurora St., Ironwood, MI
