Julia C. Cornetto, 92, a former longtime Gile resident, died Sunday, Sept. 27,
2009, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Range,
Wis. The former Julia Negri was born Sept. 23,
1917, in Pence, daughter of the late Joseph and Christina (Nagro) Negri, and
attended school there. She married John Domenic Cornetto on July 12,
1941, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Pence. He preceded her in death on
Oct. 3, 1984. Julia was employed at Dairyman's Country Club
in Boulder Junction and in the hot lunch program in the Hurley School District.
She also assisted in catering weddings and funerals with the late Hilma
Augustson in her catering business. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hurley, and enjoyed collecting knick-knacks. Surviving are a son, John, Santa Clara,
Calif.; a granddaughter, Holly (David Maynard) Cornetto, Hollister, Calif.; a
sister, Lucille Chartier, Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Julia was
preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Negri; and two sisters, Madeline and
Jennie Levra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Friday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the
Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place at the
church, with private interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery,
Hurley. Relatives and friends may call at the church
