Juanita W. Reese, 86, of Mercer,
died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center
in Hurley. The former Juanita Warren was born Sept. 25,
1925, in Silver Point, Tenn., daughter of the late William and Kate (Haynes)
Warren, and graduated from Cookeville Central High School in Cookeville, Tenn.
at the age of 16 in 1942. She advanced her studies at Tennessee Polytechnical
College. In 1944, she delayed her education because of World War II. She
continued her education in 1946, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in
biology, chemistry, physics and the general sciences, as well as a teaching
certificate. Upon obtaining her teaching certificate, she taught the sciences at
the Baxter, Tenn. high school. She married Ralph C. Reese on Sept 21, 1944,
in Cookeville, Tenn. They lived in the Milwaukee area for 35 years, moving to
Mercer in 1986. They also spent winters at their home in Lady Lake,
Fla. Juanita was a wonderful artist and homemaker
who loved to garden and golf. She also was an excellent seamstress and a great
cook. A quiet, considerate woman, she especially enjoyed caring for her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Ralph, of 67 years;
two sons, Kenneth "Ken" (Denise), and James "Jim" (Marla), both of Delafield;
two grandchildren, Laura (Tom) Rademacher, Minneapolis, Minn., and Steven
(Meghann) Reese, St. Cloud, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Juniper Rademacher
and Sean Reese; a brother, James (Mary Anne) Warren, Franklin, Tenn.; a sister,
Anna (Fred) Hart, Lady Lake, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Audrey Reese and Joyce
Pannenbacker, both of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Juanita was preceded in
death by a son, William "Bill", on April 17, 1990. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A memorial gathering in celebration of
Juanita's life will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m. until noon, at Faith
Lutheran Church, 2701 Kichaks Landing, in Mercer, with a service of
remembrance conducted by Deacon Larry Oehlerking, pastor, at 11:30
a.m. Luncheon will follow at The Pines in downtown
Mercer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to
the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Wisconsin Chapter, 2900 Curry Lane, Suite
