Joseph G. Traczyk, 91, of Hurley, Wis., died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, 2015, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.      He was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Hurley, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ryniewicz) Traczyk, and attended Hurley schools. He worked in area CCC camps and at the Iron County Lumber & Fuel Co. prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and serving overseas during World War II. Following his honorable discharge as a Gunner's Mate 2 nd Class in 1946, he returned to Hurley and worked in the Cary Mine for 19 years, at White Pine Copper Co. for one year, and owned and operated Joe's Old Office in Hurley for 13 years, retiring from the Green Thumb Project in Iron County.      Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, Hurley American Legion Post 58 and a life member of Iron County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1580. He loved to read, enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, and was a handyman for everyone in the family, a trait that he handed down to his grandson, Josh.      On June 14, 1947, he was married to the former Mary Alice Conhartoski at St. Mary's Church by the late Monsignor Michael Prock. Mary Alice survives.      Also surviving are three sons, Mark (Jackie), Ironwood, Tim (Betsy), Hurley, and Jeff (Janet), Champlin, Minn.;  five daughters, Mary Jo (Jim) DuCharme, Champlin, Jean Ann (Greg) Jacobson, Waunakee, Wis., Robin Traczyk, Ironwood, Betty (Doug) Anderson, Green Bay, Wis., and Carrie (Jim) Hudacek, Ironwood; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;one great-great granddaughter;two brothers, Stanley and Donald, both of Hurley; sisters-in-law, Patti (Roger) Paige, Hurley, and Kay Paro, Bergland; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by a son, Joe, in 1995; a great-granddaughter, Liviya Raye Traczyk;  brothers, Frank, John, Leo and Edward; and sisters, Clara Jacobson and Dorothy Eilo.      Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.      Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, where military honors will be accorded by the combined Hurley American Legion Post 58 and Iron Co. VFW Post 1580 Honor Guard.      Luncheon will be served in the parish hall upon return from the cemetery.      Arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
