Malone
July 24, 1937 – June 8, 2024
MERCER, WI. – John J. Malone, 86, died unexpectedly but peacefully on June 8, 2024, at his home on Norway Point.
John was born on July 24, 1937, in Chicago, ILL., the son of John J. Malone Sr. and Elizabeth (Diercks) Malone. He graduated from St. Rita's High School Class of 1955 in Chicago. Upon graduating he married his high school sweetheart, Veronica (Ronnie) Galbraith where they subsequently resided on the south side of Chicago. Later John enlisted in the US Navy where he was stationed aboard the USS Hancock.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy John joined the Chicago Police Department where his precinct was located in downtown at the Maxwell Street Station (the very one depicted on the Hill Street Blues series). At around the age of 32 John and his family moved to Mercer WI where he founded MALONE PLUMBING INC. serving as a Master Plumber for over 50 years.
Several years following the passing of Ronnie, John met Roxie Rasmuson and the two fell in love and remained together until his recent passing. They enjoyed spending their winters on Mexico's beaches and in Palm Springs, California. The ocean, the desert, and the lake brought John great joy. John and Roxie's life together was filled with the love of travel, fun, and adventure. John loved his family, many customers, and friends and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased in death by his wife, Ronnie, and his son, John J. Malone III.
Surviving John is his life partner, Roxy Rasmuson; his son Patrick "Michael" Malone and wife Micki Malone of Georgia; his daughter, Catherine Malone, of Chicago; Four Grandchildren and Seven Great-grandchildren.
