Jeanne M. McCoy, 69, of 650 Garvey St. Ironwood, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 22, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. The former Jeanne M. Connors was born June 24, 1939, in Hurley, Wis., daughter of Marie (Chiapusio) and the late Matt Connors. Jeanne graduated from Hurley High School, and attended the Univ. of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, receiving her bachelor's degree in teaching. She taught in Wausau, at the Holy Trinity/St. Michael's Catholic Grade School on Arch St. in Ironwood, Southside School in Hurley, and retired from the Hurley K-12 School in 1993. Her hobbies were reading, baking and knitting. JEANNE WAS OUR GREAT SWEETHEART. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. On Dec. 28, 1963, she married Donald McCoy at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kathy McCoy, of Germantown, Wis.; her mother, Marie Connors, Hurley; a sister, Mary Jo Connors of Jackson, Wis.; and special friends, Carol Trethewey and Ileoni Roy, a special neighbor Dorothy Bunjovac and an adopted daughter Kathy Saari. Besides her father, Jeanne was preceded in death by two brothers; Patrick "Packy" Connors and Michael Connors in infancy. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal and internment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Luncheon will be held in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM this morning.
