Jean M. Roberts, 83, of 718 Celia St., Ironwood, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in Ironwood.      The former Jean Anderson was born May 2, 1926, in Ironwood, daughter of the late C. Harry and Estella (Johnson) Anderson, attended local schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1944.      She worked as a sales clerk at the F.W. Woolworth Co. in downtown Ironwood prior to her marriage to Frederick Roberts on June 21, 1947, at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood. She then became a homemaker and together with Fred raised a family. A special mother, Jean was always there for her children when they came home from school. After her children were grown, she worked in the food service department at Luther L. Wright High School for many years until her retirement. Fred preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2006.      Jean was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and the Salem Quilters. She enjoyed her bridge club and loved spending summers at her cottage on Lake Superior at Little Girl's Point.      Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Colin) Carpenter, Wausaukee, Wis.; a son, Perry (Lucinda), Green Bay, Wis.; four grandchildren, Cory Carpenter, Wausaukee, and Brad Carpenter,  Alease Roberts (Brandon Kuntz), and Jared Roberts, all of Green Bay; a sister, Polly Anderson, Ironwood; and several nieces and nephews.      Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong officiating.      Luncheon will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.      Private committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday.      Pallbearers will be Colin, Brad, Cory and Curt Carpenter, Mark and Tom Lindberg, Steve Thomas and Harold Parten.      Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Salvation Army.      To view Jean's obituary online, sign the guestbook and express condolences, visit mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home Inc., Ironwood.
