Janet Marie Casari, 88, passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Janet was born on April 4, 1936, in Montreal, Wisconsin the daughter of James Jr. and Florence (Redolphi) Valsuano.
Janet grew up in Gile, Wisconsin, and attended Gile and Montreal schools, graduating in 1954 from J.E. Murphy in Hurley. She married Ermenio Casari on October 2, 1954, he preceded her in death in January 2000. In her younger years, Janet worked at Kresge's, Peerless Laundry and Holiday Inn for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, knitting making Afghans, mittens, and slippers to give to her family.
Janet was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, Wisconsin. She was a huge sport-loving fan of the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Tigers, and Red Wings. Whenever there was a game to watch, it was on her TV. Most recently Janet enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sudoku, find the word, and other games.
Janet is survived by her children, David (Joy), Michael (Tracy), and Scott Casari; grandchildren, Marissa Casari, Joshua Casari, Cory (Samantha) Casari, Brad Wester, and Sage Casari; great-grandchildren, Vincenzo Casari, Finnley Casari; sisters, Elizabeth Friedlein and Kathleen Deluca, along with many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, step-father Marcus Petersen, in-law Virginio and Claudina Casari, 2 sons in infancy; Robert and Dale, and her son Mark who passed in 2023; grandson, Mason Wester in 2016, and brothers-in-law, Donnie Friedlein and Larry Bergemann.
Janet's children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved them all unconditionally.
Mom, we will love you forever.
A visitation for Janet will be on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Fr. Raj Sunkura officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery later in the spring.
