James B. Pospeck, 65, of E-5065 Slade Rd., Ironwood Township, died Monday afternoon, April 6, 2009, in his home, with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Ironwood, son of the late Bernard and Catherine (Uren) Pospeck. He attended Newport Grade School in Ironwood and graduated from A. D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1961. Jim worked and traveled in TV repair for Sears-Roebuck Co. and was employed as a driller/blaster at White Pine Copper Co. for many years, retiring in 1999. Following his retirement from the mine, he worked at Jacquart Manufacturing in Ironwood for six years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting, and coached in the Bessemer Little League for several years. On June 26, 1965, he was married to the former Patricia M. "Pat" Hill at St. Sebastian Catholic Church by the Rev. Louis Bracket. Pat recently preceded Jim in death on March 14, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Scott (Patricia), and Mark (Holly), and three grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin and Joshua Pospeck, all of Bessemer; four brothers, Donald (Magdelena), Egan, Colo., Gerald (Marlene), and Henry (Mary), both of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., and Harold (Connie), Ironwood; three sisters, Laura (John) Modjewski, Eagle River, Wis., Charlotte (Al) Wells, Rockland, and Darlene (Bob) Green, Ontonagon; a brother-in-law, Robert Figuli, Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog and sleeping companion, "Natasha". Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Koski and Connie Figuli. In accordance with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. Spring inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. A memorial gathering in celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Ironwood Township Community Building, corner of Lake and Sunset Rd., in Ironwood Township.
