James "Jim" Robert Foley, 82, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Westgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Jim was born on March 14, 1943, in Tracy, Minnesota, to Robert and Edith (Schons) Foley. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Detroit. Jim was a civil engineer at Coleman Engineering from 1978 until his retirement in 1995. On February 24, 1995, Jim was united in marriage with Sharon Kirkley at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Together with Sharon, they enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, and especially fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, carving, and painting. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.
He will be missed by his wife, Sharon Foley of Ironwood; sons, Michael Foley of Ironwood, Douglas (Diana) Foley of Bessemer, Brian Foley of Tyndall, SD, Brian (Shannon) Anderson of Erwin; and daughter, Dawn Anderson (Derek Young) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Bryant (Lauren) Rowe, Mathias Anderson, Jaye Foley, Kaira Anderson, Katelin (Pedro) Alvarez, and Sabrina (Christopher) Padilla; great-grandchildren, Juan Alvarez, Christopher Padilla, and Alejandro Padilla; brothers, Bill (Jo Ann) Foley, Pat (Kathleen) Foley, Joe Foley, Dan (Janice) Foley, and Tom (Michelle) Foley; sisters, Theresa Westrup, Mary Foley, Rita Kitberger, and Monica (Roger) Fleegel. Jim is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Foley; brothers-in-law, David Westrup and Peter Kitzberger.
Visitation for Jim will be held on Saturday, December 27th, from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Brian Gerber officiating at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Sunset Acres Cemetery in the spring.
The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Westgate for their care.
