Isadore J. "Buzz" Burzinski,
74, of 6 Florian St., Hurley, Wis., died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Miller-Dwan
Medical Center in Duluth. He was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Iron Belt, Wis.,
son of the late Andrew and Kathryn (Betro) Burzinski, and graduated from Iron
Belt High School in 1953. He then served in the Wisconsin Army National
Guard and was activated into the Regular Army stateside at Fort Lewis,
Washington during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Following his National Guard obligation,
Isadore was employed by the Oglebay-Norton Mining Co. in the Montreal Mine until
the mine closed, worked for his brother, Albert, at the Clark Gas Station on
Cloverland Drive in Ironwood for several years, then owned and operated a Clark
Station in Escanaba, Mich. for two years. Returning to Ironwood and Hurley, he
worked at White Pine Copper Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1995. Isadore was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hurley. He loved playing the accordion and was a part-time TV
repairman. On Aug. 10, 1963, he was married to the former
Mary Ann Maxinoski at St. Mary's Church in Hurley by the late Rev. Msgr. Michael
Prock. Mary Ann survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Janice (Jeff)
Skoviera, and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Skoviera, all of Ironwood;
two brothers, Newfrey (Delores), Eagle River, Wis., and Albert (Jean), Ironwood;
a sister, Eleanor (Frank) Machovsky, Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Margie
Burzinski, Wichita, Ks., Audrey (Steve) Skoviera, Ironwood, and Alice Burke,
Mission Viejo, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a son, Mark, in 1996; a sister, Delores Szaflarski; a step-brother, Steve
Burzinski; and two step-sisters, Charlotte McGinnis and Josephine
Robertson. Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the
Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place at the
church, where a flag presentation ceremony will be accorded by representatives
of the combined Hurley American Legion Post 5 and Iron Co. VFW Post 1580 Honor
Guard. Luncheon will follow in the parish
hall. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,
Hurley. Relatives and friends may call at the church
