Irene Sarah Halverson, 95, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Villa Maria Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

Irene was born the daughter of Louis and Mary (Diulio) Lopez on June 4, 1930. Irene was a US Air Force veteran who served as a nurse. She was united in marriage to Eugene Halverson in 1958.

Irene is survived by her son, Jim (Shirley) Halverson; daughter, Mary (Rob) Segalin; grandchildren, Sophie Halverson, Stephanie Peterson, and Robert Segalin; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Jace Peterson.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene, and many brothers and sisters.

A private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
