Irene Josephine Fingeroos, 99, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.
Irene was born June 21, 1926, in Bessemer, Michigan, to Callisto and Theresa (Grasso) Cabianca. She married Adolph “Bud” Fingeroos on September 7, 1946. Irene was an avid knitter, and her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were the recipients of her many creations. She had a tradition of homemade Thanksgiving and Christmas ravioli, and every fall, a batch of Antipasto and Hot Peppers. As avid campers, Irene and Bud spent their summers traveling to various U. P. campgrounds, eventually settling at Lake Gogebic County Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; son, Rick; and siblings Clarence and Lawrence Cabianca, Rose Slovak, Florence Gustafson, Isabelle Haapoja.
Irene will be missed by her three children, Ronald Fingeroos, Bessemer, Terry (Mike) Betlewski, Green Valley, AZ, and Paula (Jim) Partanen, Bessemer; daughter-in-law, Nancy Fingeroos, Cedar Falls, IA. Nine grandchildren, Tim (Candace) Fingeroos, Wisconsin, Lori (Ken) Hickman, Alaska, Jason (Amy Thomas) Betlewski, Texas, Joelle (Brian) Clark, Wisconsin, Jamin (Mariah) Partanen, Bessemer, Kailyn Fingeroos, Connor Fingeroos, and Jenna Fingeroos, Michigan, Brianna Betlewski, Texas. She also has nine great-grandchildren, Brad, Nathan, Grant, and Holly Fingeroos, Owen and Cameron Hickman, Ryan, Charlotte, and Lucille Partanen. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
A private service was held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
A special thanks to the excellent staff at the Villa Maria for their wonderful care and kindness to Mom during her stay, and to her neighbor. Tina for her years of friendship.
