Our very dear mother,
grandmother and friend, life-long Saxon resident Ida M. Holm, 93, entered heaven
peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation
Center in Hurley, where she was very well taken care of for six
years. Ida was born Ida Ansami on Sept. 11, 1918, in
Ironwood, Mich., to the late Frank and Josephine (Kleimola) Ansami. She attended
Simon School in Saxon and graduated from Saxon High School in 1937, where she
was class salutatorian. She married Elmer John Holm on April 30, 1938, in
Bessemer, Mich. They lived in Saxon until 1944 and moved to Muskegon, Mich.
where Elmer was a machinist during the war years. In 1944 they moved back to
Saxon where they lived on a small farm, then moved into Saxon and built a new
home. Elmer preceded Ida in death on May 21, 2006. Ida was a homemaker, a very active member of
Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, Mich., and much loved by all who knew her.
It was always a special treat to stop for a visit and coffee at the Holm's
house. She was always ready for a competitive card or board game that could last
until the wee hours of the morning. A thoughtful, caring person, she always put
others before herself. She will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are three sons, Darrell (Judy), Park
Falls, and Ryckie (Dorinda) and Mark (Susan), both of Saxon; a daughter, Gayle
(Dan) Rowe, Gurney; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Auger, Mullan, Idaho, and
LaVerne Leverick, Arlington Heights, Ill.; brother-and-sisters-in-law, Richard
and Frances Holm, Ironwood, Dorothy Holm, Marne, Mich., and Elsie Holm, Omro;
and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ida was
preceded in death by brothers, Arvo, Waino and George Ansami; and sisters,
Lillian Kronholm, Helen Fafford and Eleanor Wassgren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 6,
at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5104
E. Margaret St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Wesley "Bo" Baumeister, pastor,
officiating. Committal will take place at the church, with
luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be in Lakeview
Cemetery, Saxon. Pallbearers will be Ida's
grandsons. Condolences may be given to Ida's family
online at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted
to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Inc., Ironwood. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank
you to the staff at Sky View Nursing Center and Villa Maria Health and
Rehabilitation Center in Hurley for the exceptional care given to Ida over the
past six years.
