Obituary

Ida Lou Anderson, 78, retired longtime Ironwood businesswoman, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Ironwood. The former Ida Lou Hibbert was born May 4, 1928, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Raymond and Emma (Braunell) Hibbert, attended Ironwood schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1945. She attended Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis. for one year,.then returned to Ironwood and worked with her parents in the family business, Ray's Flowwer Shop and Greenhouse, in downtown Ironwood. Ida Lou was married to Robert R. Anderson on July 8, 1950, at the Church of the Transfiguration-Episcopal, in Ironwood, by the Late Fr. Ward. Together, they operated Ray's Flower Shop and Greenhouse in downtown Ironwood and on Lake Rd. in Ironwood Township, for many years. Bob preceded Ida Lou in death on July 4, 1995, and Ida Lou continued to run the business until retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration in Ironwood and its Altar Guild. She loved fishing, and travelled extensively throughout the country and the world. Surviving are a son, Bob (Maureen), and a daughter, Paula Anderson, both of Ironwood; three grandchildren, Patrick Anderson, Lake Placid, N.Y., Beth (David) Pischer, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Michelle Anderson, St. Cloud, Minn.; a brother, Donald (Marilyn) Hibbert, Naples, Fla.; a niece, Mary Jo (Don) Powell, College Station, Texas; two nephews, John (Jenny) Hibbert, Neenah, Wis., and Bob Dimperio, Lake Mills, Wis.; and her beloved dog, "Mitzy". Besides her parents and husband, Ida Lou was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristina Louise, on Oct. 20, 1954. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Transfiguration, 336 E. Aurora St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Gilbert Kangas officiating. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Friends may call at the church beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Roger Hill, Tom Jacquart, John Milakna, Patrick Anderson, David Pischer, and John Hibbert.
