Helen M. Wierzbicki, 90, of 319 King St., Ironwood, died Saturday evening, Aug. 25, 2007, in Ironwood. The former Helen Bardon was born May 5, 1917, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Paul and Emma (Holecheck) Bardon, attended the Aurora Location School, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1936. She did housework, worked in the Allis-Chalmers Defense Plant in Milwaukee during World War II, and was employed at Hansen Glove Factory in Ironwood for four years. She was married to Leonard C. Wierzbicki on Oct. 22, 1949, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Msgr J.B. Moriarty. Together, they raised their family. Leonard preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2000. Surviving are a son, Gary (Kathi), Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; two daughters, Diane (Brian) Vukovich, Ironwood Township, and Rita (Jack) Johnson, Bessemer; six grandchildren, Amy, Ryan, and Candis Wierzbicki, Jack Johnson Jr., and Brittany and Kyle Vukovich; one great-granddaughter, Leanna; and one niece and two nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, David, June 7, 1996; two brothers, Louis and Robert Bardon; and a sister, Eva Bardon, in childhood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 29, at noon, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church, with cremation to follow. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Don Bardon, Brian and Kyle Vukovich, Jack Johnson, Ryan Wierzbicki, and Nick Saradin.
