They resided in Chicago for many years before moving to Hurley in 1980, where Helen was employed as a cook at Hurley High School. She retired as food services manager at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.      Helen was a tireless and kind homemaker and gardener who never seemed to mind when the deer ate most of her tomatoes. She loved her dogs and cats immensely and often cooked them home made meals. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley.      Surviving are a grandson, Michael Weaver, Wellington, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Lexi Weaver; sister, Stella Driscoll, Lowell, Ind.; daughters-in-law, Josie Weaver, Ironwood, Mich., and Joanne Schneider, Wellington; sister-in-law, Jerry Slaski, Elmwood Park, Ill.; nieces, Elizabeth Krone, Kathleen Trudell, Margaret Schuringa and Christine Baio; nephews, Michael, Joseph, Philip and Joseph Slaski; great-great-niece, Alina Krone; and dear friend, Jay Ahonen, Kimball.      Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Lyman, on Oct. 26, 1995; sons, Anthony and Joseph; brothers, Joseph Slaski and Frank Slaski Jr.; and nephew, James Driscoll Jr.      Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.      Graveside services and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, later in the spring, at a time and date to be announced.      Arrangements are with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
