Helen Sendra, 90, of Mercer,
Wis., died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in
Ironwood. She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Lipin, Poland,
daughter of the late Michael and Sophia (Skouba) Pietkiewicz, and came to
Chicago in 1949, where she worked at Pullman Coach Co. for ten years. She then
was employed at Zenith Corporation in Cicero, Ill., retiring as kitchen manager
for the William J. Wrigley Co. in 1983. She moved to Mercer in 2006, and was a
member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church. Helen married Florian A. Sendra in Nov. 1944,
in Poland. He preceded her in death in 1998. Surviving are a son, John (Antoinette),
Mercer; two grandchildren, Anthony (Paulina) Sendra and David (Jennifer) Hooten,
both of Wheaton, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Austen and Jacob Hooten and
Joshua and Ethan Sendra; three sisters, Jane Krygowski, Poland, Kacey (Vince)
Berdysz, Willow Springs, Ill., and Josephine (Frank) Gondek, L e mont, Ill.; and
numerous nieces, nephews and brothers-and-sisters-in-law. Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a brother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Monday, March 25, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac
Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, with the Rev. Lourdu Mandapati,
celebrant. A reception will follow in the parish
hall. Visitation will then be held Tuesday evening
at the Zarzycki Manor Chapels, Ltd., 8999 S. Archer Ave., Willow Springs, Ill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at Our Lady, Mother of
the Church, with entombment to follow in Resurrection Community Mausoleum in
Justice, Ill. Local arrangements have been entrusted to
