Helen Chrisanne "Chris"
Mullineux, 50, of 201 Bundy St., Ironwood, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in her
home, with her family by her side, following a courageous, 1 1/2 year battle
with cancer. Chris was born Jan. 20, 1960, in Evanston,
Illinois, the daughter of Larry and Anne (Penfield) Mullineux. She came to the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan with her family in 1972, and graduated from Luther
L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1978. She then attended Northern Michigan
University in Marquette and received a bachelor of science degree in theatrical
arts in 1982. An accredited message therapist, Chris was a
graduate of the New Mexico Institute of Message Therapy. She practiced message
therapy in Breckenridge, Colo., until 1999, when she
returned to Ironwood. She then received a master's degree in education from the
University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2001, and was employed as a K-12 guidance
counselor in the Mellen, Wis. School District until her diagnosis with cancer in
August 2008. She also practiced message therapy out of her home. Chris was a member of the Message Therapy
Association and other related organizations. She loved camping, playing the
piano and enriching herself with continuing education. Surviving are two brothers, Chip (Cathy), Lac
du Flambeau, Wis., and Price, Ironwood; a sister, Suzie Mullineux, Leadville,
Colo.; and nieces and nephews, Kirstin and Michael Mullineux, Grant Mullineux,
Talus Schreiber, and Joel and Claire Benton. Preceding Chris in death were her
parents, Larry and Anne Mullineux, on Aug. 29,
1981. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A memorial gathering in celebration of Chris's
life will be held this summer at a date and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made
to the Mellen School District, P.O. Box 500, Mellen Wis. 54546, for a
scholarship to be established in Chris's memory. Online condolences may be given to the family
