Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and very special friend to many, Helen "Nonnie" Douville, 75, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at her home in Mercer, Wis., surrounded by her family. Helen was born on June 4, 1932, in a log house on the Manitowish River in Manitowish, Wis., to Lee and and Margaret (Moffett) Doriot, where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood. She attended Mercer School and was a member of the Mercer United Methodist Church. Nonnie raised three daughters and helped raise many other children who were fortunate to spend time in her home through the years. All this while she traveled around the world with her husband who made the military a career. After retirement, her family returned home to Wisconsin. Known for her hospitality, Nonnie welcomed company into her home where she shared her homemade cookies, raspberry jam, bread, and soups with everyone. "Tea Time" was always an especially great time at her home. She was a kind and gentle lady who enjoyed life and a good laugh. Through the years, Nonnie devoted many hours to church and civic organizations, but her daughters felt her devotion as a mom was her greatest gift. Her beautiful flower gardens were admired by many. Nonnie's spirit will live within the hearts of all who knew her. Her deep faith, generosity, kindness, and love of family and friends will continue forever. She is survived by one sister, Lyn LaPointe, Mercer, and two daughters, Denise (Harrison) Hassell, San Antonio, TX, and Charmain (Ron) Lueptow, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Laura) Hassell, Jackson, MI, Marie Hassell, San Clemente, CA, Jennifer (Jeremy) Hooker, Dixon, IL, Kristopher Bergstrom, Eau Claire, WI, Joshua and Michael Lueptow, Tampa, and great-granddaughter Corrine Hassell, Jackson, MI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Douville; her daughter, Annette J. (Kerry) Bergstrom; her parents, Lee and Margaret (Moffett) Doriot; her brother, Calvin Doriot; and sisters, Wilda Organist, Lois Ahlborn, and Jacqueline Moderson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the Mercer United Methodist Church in Mercer, with the Rev. Larry Olson, officiating. A luncheon will be served following the service in the church fellowship hall. Relatives and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
