Harald
Pott
January 12, 1935 – February 14, 2025
Saddened by the loss of Harald Pott, 90, of Mercer, our loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather (a.k.a. Opa), and brother-in-law passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Harald was born on January 12, 1935 in Obernbeck, Germany, to Heinrich and Wilhelmine (Mester) Pott. Harald was a true pioneer, immigrating from Germany to America in the late 1970s with his then-young family. Moving to Chicago initially but quickly settled into the Mercer area in the early 1980s. He started several businesses but soon reverted to his true passion of building homes. Harald was a trained Master Carpenter with old-world skills. Having built many homes in Germany, he soon began building several homes in the north woods.
Harald enjoyed spending his time with walks in nature and studying natural healing botanicals. But most of all he enjoyed spending his time surrounded by his many loving grandchildren. They were and are his life legacy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Edeltraud "Edie"; son, Andreas (Maria) Pott; daughters, Silvia (Michael) Johnson, and Bettina Pott (Dawit Mulugeta); grandchildren, Avaida, Gabriella, Claudia, and Victoria Pott, Sonja and Annika Johnson, Mathias, Thomas, Daniel, and Stephan Dawit, and brother-in law Fritz Frauenrath. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Harald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
A celebration of his life will be held in the coming summer months to honor Harald's memory.
