Ginger S. Hockenbrock, 64, of
Southgate Village, Hurley, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at
home. The former Ginger LeGassa was born May 9,
1948, at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, Mich., daughter of the late
Michael and Lempi (Tankka) LeGassa, and attended A.D. Johnston High School in
Bessemer, Mich. She was employed at Simpson Electric in
Mercer, and Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Holiday Inn in
Hurley. She loved the Green Bay Packers, and was an active volunteer in the
Hurley Booster Club and the Paavo Nurmi Marathon. Ginger was married to Robert G. Hockenbrock on
Jan. 22, 1968, in Bessemer. He preceded her in death on June 30,
2011. Surviving are a son, Robert, of
Hurley; granddaughter, Alex; two brothers, George (Darlene) LeGassa, Harvey,
Mich., and Thomas (Brenda) LeGassa, Cold Spring, Minn.; three sisters, Donna
Colberg, Ramsay, Mich., Mary (Duane) Koski, Bessemer, and Marchal "Shan"
(Douglas) Aho, Ishpeming, Mich.; sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Shirley
Hockenbrock, Hurley, Louise (Elwyn "Butch") Runstrom, Gwinn, Mich., and Charles
Jamieson, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special
friend and neighbor, Pat Sargent, Hurley. Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a son, John, on Oct. 28, 1993; three brothers, David, Glen
and Michael LeGassa; and a sister, Carol Mortier. Per Ginger's wishes, cremation has taken place
and no formal services will be held. Private committal and interment will be in
Greenwood Cemetery, Upson. Online condolences may be given to Ginger's
