Geraldine E. "Jerrie" Burdeau, 95, of Ironwood, died Saturday evening, Nov. 29, 2008, in Ironwood. The former Geraldine Lorenson was born Sept. 7, 1913, in Puritan Location, Bessemer, daughter of the late Capt. August and Hannah (Erickson) Lorenson, attended the Puritan School, and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1931. She attended Wausau Business College, Wausau, Wis., then moved to Chicago, where she was employed for a short time at Stewart-Warner Corp. and for 24 1/2 years as an assistant buyer for Sears-Roebuck and Co., retiring in 1977 and moving to Ironwood in 1979. Jerrie was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood and its' Salem Seniors, serving a term as past treasurer. She enjoyed fishing and spending time at Lake Gogebic. She was the family caregiver to her late husband, Elmer, her late sister, Violet Lorenson and her late brother, Verner G. Lorenson. On Nov. 22, 1941, she was married to Elmer F. Burdeau at Irving Park Lutheran Church in Chicago by the late Rev. Dr. Joshua Odin. Elmer preceded her in death on March 15, 1991. Surviving are three nephews, Don V. (Mary Jane) Lorenson, San Francisco, Calif., David P. Lorenson, San Bruno, Calif., and Curtis A. (Marva) Swanson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three nieces, Carole Ann (David) Taft, New Hope, Minn., Lynn (Mark) Sargent, Wauwatosa, Wis., and Diane K. (Gary Sackman) Sunstein, Rockford, Ill.; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Jerrie was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Verner G. Lorenson; and five sisters, Milda and Violet Lorenson, Eunice Luethke, Ann Swanson and Lorraine Mueller. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong officiating. Committal will take place at the church, with burial to follow in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday.
