Gary Bruce Smith, 77, of Lake Nebagamon, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home.

Gary was born the son of Gordon and Enid (Hockick) Smith in Ironwood, Michigan, on November 19, 1947. After graduation, Gary served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968, until he received an honorable discharge. On September 8, 1969, he was united in marriage with Cheryl K. Beckman at Wesley Methodist Church in Ironwood. Gary retired from Murphy Oil Refinery in Superior. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, especially trout fishing by the big rock on the Potato River in Saxon.

Gary is survived by his son, Brad; his sister, Linda Teague; his nieces, nephews, many cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cheryl, in 2024.
