Frances M. Ruby, 91, of Ironwood, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, in Mellen, Wis. The former Frances Stanczak was born April 2, 1916, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Cgiclka) Stanczak, attended Ironwood schools, and graduated from L.L. Wright High School in 1934. She married Albert Ruby on July 9, 1938 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1973. Frances worked as a waitress in Ironwood and was employed at Simpson Electric Co. in Mercer for several years. Together with her husband, she also worked as a caretaker for a wealthy family in Woodruff, Wis. for a number of years. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, and enjoyed sewing, canning, flower gardening, and working around her home. Surviving are three sons, Albert (Darla), Ironwood, Thomas (Pam), Bergland, and David (Beth), Milwaukee; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo (Cecilia) Stanczak, Ironwood, and Frank (Helen) Stanczak, Elgin, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy (Walt) Develski, Escanaba; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by two brothers, John in childhood, and Steve; and a sister, Agnes Kriska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 16, at noon, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, presider. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
