Florence M. DeFelice, 83, of Wakefield, and a
former Ironwood resident, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 30, 2009, in
Wakefield. She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Ironwood,
daughter of the late Domenic and Mary (D'Angelo) DeFelice, attended Ironwood
schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943. She worked as a waitress at the St. James
Hotel in downtown Ironwood and in a defense plant in Madison, Wis. during World
War II. She lived in the Chicago area for a number of years before moving back
to Ironwood and eventually to Wakefield. During her younger years she enjoyed
dancing, cooking and reading. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic
Church in Ironwood. Surviving are a sister, Clara DeFelice, of
Hurley; five nieces and nephews, Dennis (Sarah) DaPra, Spring Arbor, Mich.,
Marlene (David) Adami, Springfield, Ill., Raymond DaPra, Ironwood, David (Patti)
Benetti, Escanaba, and Mary Kay (Grant) Seeke, Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine great-nieces
and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Donna Mortier, of
Bessemer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by two sisters, Mary DaPra and Antoinette Benetti. Out of respect for Florence's wishes,
cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood,
with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Luncheon will immediately follow in the parish
hall. Rite of Committal and private inurnment will
be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St.
Joseph Family Room at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct.
15. The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Our Lady of Peace Adopt-A-Student
