Ferol M. Stahovic, 87, of Ironwood, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Ironwood. The former Ferol O'Berto was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Joseph and Maud (Hinds) O'Berto. She attended G.N. Sleight Grade School and St. Ambrose Catholic Grade School, graduating from St. Ambrose High School with the Class of 1937. She was married to Frank E. Stahovic on July 4, 1941, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Rev. Coughlan. Frank preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1975. Ferol was employed in the water department for the City of Ironwood for 8 1/2 years, then moved to Chicago, where she worked in imported clothing and export waste materials. She was then employed in accounts payable and receivable for Link-Belt Mfg. for 11 years, returning to Ironwood following the death of her husband in April, 1975. Ferol was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and its' former Women's Society, and was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Surviving are her sister, Mary Kuklenski, of Ironwood; a niece, Alice (Gene) Wenzel, Hatley, Wis.; a nephew, Paul Kuklenski, Sturtevant, Wis.; and a grand-niece, Jessa (Klint) Smith, Wausau, Wis. Besides her parents and husband, Ferol was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph "Bill" O'Berto, on April 17, 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
