Edward G. "Eddie" Matusewic Jr., 49, of
Rhinelander, Wis. and formerly of Montreal, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 11, 2009,
at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. He was born Dec. 9, 1959, in Ironwood, Mich.,
son of the late Edward and Patricia (Cox) Matusewic, and attended Roosevelt
School in Montreal and J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley. He worked in maintenence at Carroll College in
Waukesha for several years, then moved to Rhinelander, where he was employed in
maintenence at Schroder's Chrysler-GMC, retiring due to ill health in 2004. In
his retirement, he worked at Trig's Car Wash in Rhinelander several days a
month. Eddie was a past member of the Oneida County
Fair Board. He enjoyed fishing and attending car shows, concerts and sporting
events. Surviving are two brothers, Donald (Gail),
Montreal, and Joe (Tracy), Mayville; two sisters, Mary (Jerry) Mattson, Iron
Belt, and Marge (Robert) Escalante, Shawano; numerous nieces and nephews; and
his special companion, his dog "Sammy". Besides his parents, Eddie was preceded in
death by a brother, Danny, and three sisters, Helen Rivers, Judy Miller and
Ginger Michniak. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug
18, at 2 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Hurley, officiating. Committal and inurnment will follow in St.
Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the
