Obituary

Edmond Harold Rovelsky, 62, of Ironwood, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, where he had been a patient for seven weeks, after fighting a courageous battle with leukemia. Ed was born Aug. 16, 1944, in Ironwood, to Isadore "Slick" and Gertrude Rovelsky. He was a graduate of L.L. Wright High School, Class of 1962, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University in 1967. Ed was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1967-1969, including a tour in Korea. After returning home, he worked for Ford Motor Credit in the Twin Cities. From 1973 through the present, Ed was the owner and operator of the family business, Rovelsky & Company. Over the years, he enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, socializing in local coffee shops, making his annual trips to Florida, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his brother Larry and sister-in-law, Bliss, and their children Gayla, Randy and Andy, all of Ishpeming. Ed was precedeed in death by his parents, his aunt Elizabeth Cohen, and his uncle, Leon Rovelsky. Friends may call at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 21. Burial will be in Sharey Zedek Cemetery, Hurley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of one's choice.
