Obituary

Dorothy L. O'Leary, 84, of E5376 Jackson Rd., Ironwood Township, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, in Ironwood, with family by her side.      The former Dorothy L. Kurta was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Michael and Justine (Kovales) Kurta, and attended Ironwood schools. She was then employed as a waitress at the Greyhound Bus Depot in downtown Ironwood and worked in defense plants in Detroit during World War II.      She was married to Robert D. O'Leary on Jan. 7, 1946, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1983.      Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She loved nature and wildlife, and was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, organ, guitar and violin by ear. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.      Surviving are a son, Dennis, Tifton, Ga.; three daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Kutz, Kenosha, Wis., Jacqueline (Brian) Mack, Spring Hill, Kans., and Patty Eliason, Ironwood; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Delores) Kurta, Gile, Wis., and Louie (Theresa) Kurta, Ironwood; two sisters, Marion Butson and Jean (Marvin) Maki, both of Ironwood Township; a sister-in-law, Betty Kurta, Erwin Township; two brothers-in-law, John O'Leary, Bloomington, Minn., and James O'Leary, California;  and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard "Barney" Kurta.      Out of respect for Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place.      A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J.
