Dorothy M. Falesnik, 92, of Ironwood, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, in Ironwood. The former Dorothy M. Johnson was born May 5, 1917, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Andrew and Louise (Nyman) Johnson, and attended Ironwood schools. She worked on the family farm in Ironwood Township for a short time. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. On Nov. 4, 1970, she married John C. "Superman" Falesnik. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2006. Surviving are a daughter, Jean (Loyd) Wilbanks, Ironwood Township; three sons, Donald and Ernest Brace, both of Ironwood, and Kenneth Brace, Little Girl's Point; five grandchildren, Christine Helmick, Pamela Cooper, Rebecca Walls, Lee Cummings and Laurie; seven great-grandchildren, Adam, Heather, Christopher, Brandon, Michael, Cassey and Danielle; a step-daughter, Estelle Sorenson, New Berlin, Wis.; three step-grandchildren, Delores, Sandra and Richard; and four step-great-grandchildren, Brian, Brenda, Samantha and Joshua. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Cummings; seven brothers, Leonard, Clarence, Irving, William, Waldemar, Arnold and Robert Johnson; a sister, Elsie Johnson, in childhood; son-in-law, Ernest Cummings; daughters-in-law, Ollie and Doreen Brace; step-son-in-law, Ron Sorenson; step-grandson, Steve Gilmore; and step-great-grandson, Nicholas Oberst. Out of respect for Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, officiating. Private inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
