Obituary

Dolores M. Phillips, 91, a life-long resident of Ironwood, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side.      The former Dolores Munari was born July 16, 1924, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Lucy (Finco) Munari, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School with the Class of 1941.She then attended Gogebic Community College, receiving an associate's degree in secretarial work, and was employed for many years at the Ironwood Credit Bureau and Kodiak Corporation.      Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and member and past secretary of the St. Ambrose-Ironwood Catholic Alumni and Friends Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and needlework.      She was married to William "George" Phillips on Dec. 19, 1964, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by the Rev. Robert Matchett. George preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2013.      Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Vizanko, St. Augustine, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michelle Walker, Bonnie Landau, James Vizanko and Amy Vizanko; six great-grandchildren, Cameron and Brock Walker, and Kate, Brody, Joseph and Drew Vizanko; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Chris Vizanko; brothers, Domenic, A.R. "Keela", Anton "Moose" and Arthur Munari; and sisters, Mary Krizmanich and Margaret Koszloski.      Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.      Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Luncheon will be served at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley immediately upon return from the cemetery.      Serving as pallbearers will be James Vizanko, Michael Teeter, Brock Walker, Brody Vizanko, and Brian and Clayton Aijala.      In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Our Lady of Peace Building Fund, 108 S. Marquette St., Ironwood, MI 49938.      Arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Inc., Ironwood. Condolences may be expressed online at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
