Diana Helen Swanson, 94, of Hurley and formerly of Pine Lake, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Villa Maria Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Diana was born on April 8, 1932, in Ironwood, MI, to Nick and Helen (Sekelsky) Bolich. She attended Roosevelt Elementary School and graduated from L.L. Wright School in Ironwood in 1950. In August 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald (Dodgie) Swanson. Together, they raised three children and operated the Hurley Tire and Repair Shop. Diana also worked for the Iron Exchange/Associated Bank for 25 years in Hurley and Mercer before retiring.

Following her retirement, Diana and Dodgie moved to their home they had built on Pine Lake, fulfilling a dream they shared. Diana enjoyed picking fresh berries, which she would use to make delicious pies. She was a wonderful baker and was especially known for her homemade nut rolls, which she lovingly shared with family and friends. Diana was an active member of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Most of all, Diana’s pride and joy was her family. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and created many treasured memories that will live on in their hearts.

Diana is survived by her two sons, Gary (Lori) Swanson and Bruce Swanson, both of Hurley; daughter, Cathy (Bob) Ofstad of Hurley; grandchildren Rachel (Joe), Ryan (Lisa), Shannon, Gary (Faith), Bradley, Tyler, Joseph (Angel), Shawn, Savana (Alex), and Alexis (Cole); and great-grandchildren, Mason, Colin, Emery, Brooke (Jared), Ryann, Beau, Sawyer, Zoey, Lucy, Graden, Estella, Fiona, and Isla. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald (Dodgie); sister, Mary Lou Bolich; granddaughter, Wendy Ofstad; and special cousin Jeri Vukusich.

A private family Mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial at the Hurley Cemetery.
