Obituary

Dennis Lee Lipske, 71, of Hurley, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Dennis was born on May 8, 1955, in Ironwood, MI, to Clarence and Lois (Schlichting) Lipske. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1973. He went on to work for Louisiana Pacific in Mellen and WaltCo Currier Services. Dennis was united in marriage with Sherry Rice on September 6, 1975. Together they had two daughters.

Despite a long battle with Parkinson's, Dennis always remained his happy-go-lucky self. He was always smiling, soft-spoken, generous, and silly with those he cared for. He said hi to everyone and could make friends with anyone. Dennis had a huge heart for everyone and even considered many of his daughters' friends his bonus daughters. He also saw his sons-in-law as the sons he never had.

Dennis was often found in his recliner cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also a huge wrestling fan and enjoyed rewatching 2000s sitcoms. He enjoyed listening to country music and owned a huge collection of DVDs and CDs. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and looked forward to their visits. He always made sure to have a cold soda and snack on hand to offer them.

Above all, Dennis’s greatest joy was being a dad and grandpa. He was looking forward to becoming a great-grandpa in September. He never missed a day to call those he loved most just to ask how their day went or even just tell them he loves them. Dennis was a good man with a heart of gold and is already greatly missed.

He is survived by his two daughters, Theresa (Christopher) Jarvis of Park Falls, and Tammy (Christopher) Sabec of Ashland; his mother, Lois Lipske; three brothers, George Lipske, Ronald Lipske, and Mark (Donna) Lipske; four grandchildren, Mackenzie and Evan Jarvis, Lily Weidenbach, and Scarlett Sabec. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; his wife, Sherry, in 1983; nephew, Luke; his in-laws, Rollin and Toni Rice; and sister-in-law Judy Valenti.

Visitation for Dennis will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 11 a.m. at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood.
