Obituary

Delores C. "Del" Fleury, 80, of 210 W. Michigan Ave., Ironwood, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2008, in Ironwood. The former Delores Davidson was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Detroit, daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Spaven) Davidson, and graduated from Cass High School in Detroit in 1944. She then worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for four years. On June 16, 1956, she married Donald J. Fleury in Detroit.They resided in Dearborn, where they raised their family, and moved to Ironwood in 1977, where they owned and operated the Royal Motel on Cloverland Drive until 1995, when their son Pat and daughter-in-law Susan took over the business. Don preceded Del in death on Feb. 22, 1999. Del was an active and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ironwood, where she sang in the church choir. She loved to garden. Surviving are three sons, Michael, of Ramsay, and Patrick (Susan), and Timothy, both of Ironwood; and six grandchildren, Michael, T.J., Cassandra, Brandy, Brady and Blake. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Ellison, and brother-in-law, Stan Ellison. In accordance with Del's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Ironwood, with Dr. Jack Fashbaugh, commissioned lay pastor, officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Aurora St., Ironwood, Mich. 49938.
