Obituary

Delbert D. "Del" Grawey, 69, of 525 E. Houk St., Ironwood, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.      He was born July 27, 1940, in Rhinelander, Wis., son of the late William and Marvel (Morse) Grawey.      He was employed as a mikman for Twin City Dairy of Hurley, worked at Schult Mobile Homes in Ironwood, and retired from White Pine Copper Co. after 36 years of service in 2002.      Delbert loved camping, fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley-Davidson Road King. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.      On June 28, 1958, he was married to the former Patricia A. Hill at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Rev. Ambrose Matejik. She survives.      Also surviving are a son, Delbert (Vickie), Blaine, Minn.; a daughter, Theresa (Louie) Kurta, Ironwood; three grandchildren, Deanna Constantini, Ironwood, and Alicia and Wyatt Johnson, Blaine; two great-grandchildren, Makayla Constantini, Ironwood, and Victoria Preli, St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, William (Evelyn), South Beloit, Ill., Morris (Donna), Chatham, Ill., and Gilbert (Carol) and Allen, both of Rockford, Ill.; four sisters, Alberta Smithson, California, Bonnie Grawey, Salem, Ore., Kathleen (John) Thorson, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Maude Pauletto, Issaquah, Wash.; sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Diane and Donald Hamberg and Barbara and David Aspinwall, all of Ironwood, and Donald Hill, Ironwood Township; and several nieces and nephews.      Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary; a sister, Margo Miller; his father-and-mother-in-law, Earl and Evelyn Hill; brother-in-law, Bill Miller; sister-in-law, Lynda Hill; and nephew, Darryl Hill.      Out of respect for Delbert's wishes, cremation hs taken place.      Memorial services will be held   Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, officiating.      Rite of Committal will take place at the funeral home, with luncheon to follow at Manny's Restaurant in Ironwood.      Private inurnment will be in Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township, later this spring.      Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.      To view Delbert's obituary online, sign the guestbook and express condolences, visit mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
