Obituary

Deborah Jean Hewitt, 46, of De Forest, Wis., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Debbie was born Oct. 21, 1960, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, and was a 1978 graduate of J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley. She also studied Radiology in Milwaukee and then returned to Hurley to attend Gogebic Community College. Debbie was a great listener who loved working with people. She worked for many years in the food and beverage industry bringing smiles and lasting friendship to a great many people along the way. Locations of her employment included Hurley, Bessemer, Presque Isle, Bloomington, MN, Sun Prairie, and Windsor. Debbie's favorite thing to do was watch the Packers, especially when they beat the Vikings! She also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to cook and be in the kitchen. Surviving are her son, Matthew Kimmes, Fall River; mother and step-father, Karen and John O'Brien, Manitowish Waters; siblings, Patti Hewitt (John Markowski), Hurley, Jim Hewitt (Julie), Gile, Mary Holm (Roddy), Ironwood, Jackye Robinson (Joe), Mercer, Stephanie Hendrickson (Steve), Coon Rapids, MN, and Tina Hewitt (Greg), Crystal, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews and her fiance and soul mate, Larry Smith, De Forest. She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Hewitt. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Friends may visit with Debbie's family at a memorial gathering to be held Friday, Oct. 5, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood.
