Dean C. Comparin, 80, of
Ironwood, was born to eternal life and joined his loving wife Monday, Dec. 17,
2012, surrounded by his loving family, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and
Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, following a lengthy illness. He was born July 2, 1932, in Hurley, Wis., son
of the late Anton and Evelyn (Ebli) Comparin, and attended St. Ambrose Grade
School and Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. Dean worked with his father at the State Line
Service Station in Ironwood for several years. He then was employed in heavy
equipment manufacturing with Kerny and Trecker
Co. in Milwaukee for several years. Returning to Ironwood, he worked at Peerless
Laundry for three years, as an insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life for one
year, at Globe Concrete, Dino's Zephyr Station for six years, 14 years with
Cleary's Milk and Ice Cream out of Rhinelander, Wis., in maintenance at the Comfort Inn in Ironwood, and six years as road
crew supervisor with Superior-American Homes in Kimball, Wis., retiring from
White Pine Copper Co. in 1994. Dean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church
in Ironwood, and a former member of the Aurora Athletic Club and Hurley Lions
Club, where he served as past president. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and
bowling in leagues at the American Legion lanes in Hurley. On Oct. 22, 1955, he married the former M.
Faye Koscielny of Ironwood in Bessemer. She preceded him in death on Sept. 7,
2008. Surviving are a son, Jerry (Peggy), and
daughter, Karen (Christopher) Kitchen, both of Ironwood; five grandchildren,
Alyson, Ryan, Jacob, Matt and Ethan; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emily
and Matt Jr.; two brothers, Robert (Ida), Blacksburg, Va., and Tony
"Cookie" (Pat), Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Dean was
preceded in death by a son, Dean F., on Dec. 12, 1991; and a brother,
Kenneth. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec.
22, at 11a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church,
5104 E. Margaret St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Wesley "Bo" Baumeister
officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship
hall. Private committal and interment will be in
Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, in the spring. Pallbearers will be Jacob Moore, Mike
Comparin, Matt Maki, Ross Kolesar, Gary Stano and Brett Marshall. Dean's obituary may be viewed online and
