David A. Erickson, age 78 of Ironwood, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Westgate Living Center in Ironwood. David was born on September 29, 1938 in Ironwood, the son of the late Frank and Edith (DeFelice) Erickson. He went to Newport School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1956. David entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. He married the former Patricia Alonen on September 4, 1971 at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish with Fr. Dunlevy officiating. David worked at Schult''s Mobile Home and later for Pepsi Cola Company, retiring after 21 years of service. His hobbies in his youngerdays were hunting and fishing. He also liked to watch the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and the Green Bay Packers and having coffee with his friends at the Midway. David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia of Ironwood; his sons: David of Ironwood and Brian of Forest Lake, MN; sisters and brothers in laws: Edrye (Jim) Harma, John (Patty) Alonen, Rick (Debbie) Alonen and Edward (Carol) Alonen; nieces and nephews: Paul (Michele) Harma, Mike (Kandie) Harma, Lynda Alonen, Jason (Ellen) Alonen, Tiffanie Alonen, Travis Alonen and Ashley (Lane) Passuello. Funeral service for David will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Ketola-Burla Funeral Home, 635 E. Ayer St., Ironwood with Fr. Robb Jurkovich officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Full Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard of Ironwood. Burial will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
