David J. Dennis, 62, of Saxon,
died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Duluth, Minn. He was born May 3, 1947 in Ashland son of the
late Willard and Patricia (Van Ouwerkerk) Dennis. David graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic
School in 1965. He then entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 1, 1966. He was
honorably discharged July 31, 1989. After retiring from the Army, David was
employed by the U.S. Government in Edgewood, Maryland, as a
data collector in the vehicle research department. He retired in July of 2008 and moved back home
to Saxon to be with his family. David was a loving son, father,
brother, grandfather, great -grandfather and an all around good guy. He will be
deeply missed . Survivors include a daughter, Ella Gray,
step-daughters Mary James, Ann (Dave) Folcomer and Martha (Robert) Taylor,
step-sons Raymond Anstine and LeRoy (Jamie) Anstine, 6 grandchildren, 4
great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters Cathleen (Robert) Kuehl, Wallace
(Rosemarie), Edward (Margie), Gene (Elaine), Joseph (Barbara), Dolores (Peter)
Strand, Daniel (Nancy), Annette (Richard) Brown, LeeAnne (Gordon) Runquist, John
(Diane), Irene (Norman) Buntrock, Lori Dennis (Bill Byers), Donna (Steve) Galush
and Alan. Further survived by other relatives and
friends. Besides his parents, David was preceded in
death by his wife Elizabeth Dennis, a step-son Jeff Anstine, two nieces and a
nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Tuesday, August 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon, with the
Rev. Kevin Gordon, celebrant. Rite of committal and interment will follow in
Lakeview Cemetery, Saxon, where full military rites will be accorded by the
Mercier-Kero American Legion Post 371 Honor Guard. Refreshments will be served in the Saxon
Community Center immediately upon return from the cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9 to 11
a.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be members of David's
