Dale W. Synkelma, 49, of
Bessemer, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, in Ironwood, surrounded by his family,
following a brief illness.
He was born March 16, 1962, in Ironwood, son
of Vivian (Olkonen) and the late Hugo Synkelma, and graduated from Luther L.
Wright High School in 1980. He was employed in sales and distribution for Range
Beverage of Hurley, Wis. for ten years, and as a salesman for Metz Baking in
Hurley for three years. Up until his untimely death, he was self-employed with
Dale Synkelma Construction.
Dale was a past member of the Hurley Lions
Club and the Norrie Amateur Sports Club in Ironwood. He enjoyed the outdoors,
hunting and fishing, and taking trips to Alaska.
Surviving are his fiancee, Valerie Reed, and
her children, Brandi and Cody Reed, all of Bessemer; mother, Vivian Synkelma,
Ironwood; son, Tony Friederichs, Hurley; brother, Steve (Michele), Ironwood
Township; two sisters, Sharon (Donald) Niemi, Quinnesec, and twin sister, Gale (Stan)
Halford, Forrest City, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Dale's wishes, cremation has taken
place.
Memorial services in celebration of his
life will be held Wednesday, March 14, at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation at
noon, at the Mckevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with
the Rev. Steve Hyvonen officiating.
