Cody M. Southwell, 18, of N-8540 VanBuskirk Rd., Erwin Township, Ironwood, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, in Duluth, Minn., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. Highway 2 in Saxon, Wis. early that morning. Cody was born Dec. 30, 1988, in Ellensburg, Wash., son of Debra (Hantula) Danielson and the late Clinton Southwell, and came to Wakefield at the age of six months, where he attended Wakefield schools. He currently was a senior at Luther L. Wright High School. He spent his summer months working for Fahrner Excavating in Ironwood, and was extremely talented working with computers. He especially enjoyed hanging out with his friends. Cody was a very loving and compassionate individual, and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He was the best brother you could ask for. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Debra and Jim Danielson of Erwin Township; his brother, Chad (Laura Grenfell), Ironwood; two sisters, Keva Southwell, Portland, Ore., and Kaarina Danielson, Erwin Township; maternal great-grandmother, Sigrid Hantula, Erwin Township; step-grandmother, Barbara Ann Danielson, Ironwood, and step-grandfather, Sheldon Sordahl, Wakefield; aunts and uncles, Jerry Smith, Ramsay, Delbert and Pat Hantula, Milwaukee, Jim and Terry Hantula, both of Erwin Township, and Elsie and Waino Salli and Michael Salli, all of Wakefield; numerous cousins; and many, many, close friends. Besides his father, Clinton, who died Jan. 10, 2001, Cody was preceded in death by his aunt, Sandra Smith, paternal grandmother, Margaret McCart, maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hill, and maternal grandfather, Robert Hantula. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, at 5 p.m., at the Lighthouse Faith Center, 777 E. Ayer St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Thomas Rouse officiating. Cremation will follow. Private committal and inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, in the spring. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Chad Southwell, Chuck and Tyler Munn, Ken and Brandon Fahrner, Marshall Allen, and Josh Moyer.
